They are the Duke's Men: an investigative agency born from family pride, risking their lives and hearts to unravel deceptions and transgressions. Ten years ago, Victor Cale never imagined that his sweet, shy bride, Isabella, would use her talent for creating exquisite imitation jewels in a criminal way and disappear into the night. Now Victor is sent to Edinburgh to investigate a wealthy baron's bride-to-be -- who proves to be Isabella.

The heroine's life is interesting, but her misunderstanding with her 10 years estranged husband is stretched thin, and her own sister and brother in law are too one-dimensional. Still, an enjoyable read. I agree with the last critic -- the other books are better.

I enjoyed this second installment in the Duke's Men series, although it has the slight feeling of a placeholder book stalling until Tristan's and Dom's stories can be told in books three & four. All the Jeffries hallmarks are present--brooding heroes, sassy heroines--plus this one has the added element of the protagonists being married already (but, obviously, estranged). A fun read, though not her absolute most memorable.
