It's the debate of the ages; this time, held in a seemingly insignificant venue, but the outcome, as always, will be life-changing. A Christian college freshman, Josh Wheaton, and his atheist philosophy professor hold court on the existence of God. To pass the course, Josh must prove to the class that God is alive and well. This dare could cost him his relationships, his career, even his future, but Josh stands up for his faith and takes on the challenge.

This movie is the sort of highly ideological film that deals a stacked deck: the sympathetic characters are the ones who agree with the film-makers. All the Christians are good--open, earnest, compassionate--while the Muslim father and the various atheists are bad--overbearing, manipulative, bullying--unless or until they become Christians.

To start, I found this movie both intense and thought-provoking. Some scenes dragged, but other parts made up for them. The accident scene, and how the pastor was there, was really powerful. One thing I disliked was the multiple storylines; not all of them received enough development or closure to be interesting. Finally, I understand that you may strongly dislike this movie, (especially if you disagree with the faith presented therein) but still, at least be willing to consider a different viewpoint.

Interesting idea for the movie! Great characters! For most part, the drama and acting was good... until it got closer to the end! It got exceedingly preachy, using this movie as an Evangelistic tool for the non-Christians! Using the real couple from the Duck Dynasty was really cheesy and not very wise! This reality show characters are known for their extreme ideas! Also, the idea that God can start the car, although plausible for the Christian crowd, was ludicrous, bearing in mind that this Film was meant to be realistic!
The movie was based on some of the true events where the Christian students were persecuted on the University campuses, were not allowed free expression, experienced quite a bit of intolerance, and, possibly, the loss of the degrees! A valid subject that definitely needs to be addressed! My problem is over-the-top evangelistic bombardment towards the end! So unnecessary and yet, seemed to be required from the Christian movie industry by the Christians themselves! Subtlety would have been Much more effective and more praiseworthy! It tells me that the Christian evangelical people seem to be out-of-touch with the people that are not in their circle! Even the acting gets very cheesy, contrived and poor at this point!
My other problem is the presentation of this idea that if one accepted Jesus as one's Saviour and Lord, then your life will be more smooth and perfect! This only encourages the hypocrisy! I don't think that it is purposeful, but it's definitely the effect! This Utopian premise is not even Biblical!

In general, this is a good drama, provocative on the two subjects! If you can ignore the 2nd part's evangelism, and suspend some of your judgement, you just might enjoy it..! I would have given this movie more stars, but, alas, I could not!

Really good and based on several real life cases. A very 'satisfying' watch.

Finished watching this movie and have to give it rave reviews as it is swirling around in my mind! A wonderfully complex film following several characters in a flowing and easy to follow manner. It was comprehensive in its message and arguments on the existence of God and some trials that we may endure in this life. If you have a 13+ year-old youth or a child in university or struggle with faith, then this is for you. This should really be screened in schools.

I really enjoyed this film. The end credits include a listing of the recent/current litigation involving American Colleges suppressing Freedom of Speech rights of Christian students.

This is a positive film and its message is important. GOD is NOT dead.

Beautiful movie and also very sad. When the girl is Muslim and comes to faith and see's Jesus as her Savior it is very moving.

"I love this movie. It is really good.Contrary to popular belief this is not religious propaganda. It encourages Christians to take a stand for what they believe. Like the school teacher in Gods not Dead2 said,"I would rather stand with God and be judged by the world than stand with the world and be judged by God"

This was THE best movie!!!!!! I would watch it a hundred times over again!!!!! I can't Believe any one would call this a bad movie. Any one who says that is probably only saying it because they wouldn't stand up for God and they are embarrassed. Newsboys did an AWESOME job w/ "The King is Coming" and "God's NOT Dead". I love them!!!!!!!!!! Great movie!!!!!!!!!!!!
