I gave it three stars because I usually like this author. This isn't one of her best. As another reviewer mentioned: the characters are a bit too similar to the ones in the last few books. Damaged woman, reticent hero with mantras. The antagonist is a twist, but not very surprising esp. as the final scene was a little premature. Except for the lack of the modern Arcane Society this was very much like that series.

I love Jayne Ann Krentz . This was a good read for romance and a dash of suspense. Alleyopp

Classic romantic suspense JAK. Nothing too earth shattering as romance books go, but a solid read. I did thoroughly enjoy both Grace and Julius, and really liked how nonchalantly Krentz dealt with the issue of PTSD in her hero (a former Marine). Recommended for those who love previous Krentz novels, and for those who like easy-to-read romances with a touch of suspense.
