An enjoyable anthology of 'weird western' short stories which was a genre I had not encountered before (westerns with a steampunk vibe, a mash up of science fiction and fantasy set in the old west). The best thing about this book was discovering several new authors whose work I want to pursue and the inclusion of several female authors which added new (and needed voices) to the topic. I did feel the book was a bit longer than needed and I grew a bit weary of stories that were technologically driven rather than character driven. Overall the book was an enjoyable, inventive, and inspiring read.
My favorites were The Golden Age by Walter Jon Williams, Madame Damnable's Sewing Circle by Elizabeth Bear, The Devil's Jack by Laura Anne Gilman, and The Hell-Bound Stagecoach by Mike Resnick.
