Awful and not a comedy, I also don't feel like main character learned or grew or resolved anything or became any more open-minded or introspective or learned to take initiative or anything! There are a lot of awful people in the movie too: bigots (racist and sexist, etc) and violent and other just mean people. Title stands for "child of god" and it's rather pushy about that part too.

In spite of filthy language and homosexual advancements, I found this to be a sociological and psychological adventure in reality. I think it is quite informative and gives insight to things that can happen where niaevity is paramount in an unfamiliar setting. It had some nice moments in it and also some very troubling ones. But I feel that it concluded with a reasonable and hopeful ending. I believe its value comes in more as a warning of going out on one's own without having a strong reliable back up element in case of emergency .

I knew this movie was worth 000000 in the first minute. The hateful, filth pouring out of the woman's mouth was offensive and disgusting. I could not imagine going through 2 hours of this narrative sewer.

Very weird movie. Don't know why main character is running away from home, just that he did. Meets up with a few strange cookies. Not a whole lot of entertainment in this one.

Had high hopes as a fan of Sedaris and having lived in North Carolina and Washington. I guess I should have read more about what this movie about, because it was mostly a drama about religion with a few dark comedy bits thrown in. Also couldn't picture the main character as Sedaris at all.

Not a comedy,.. but a rare, closely oberved, and engaging 'light drama' about ethnic/class accomodations and conflicts in our society.

This is a film about the foibles of mankind. Its style is somewhere between comedy and drama. The protagonist starts out being impressed with his own collegiate credentials, but is unprepared for life itself. After graduation, he is estranged from his family and is aimless in his pursuits. Through a series of misadventures with friends, employers, co-workers, and religious zealots, he is finally left exactly where he began. The young man is actually left with one final choice. Although it is not stated outright, a major hint is dropped during the course of the film. To say any more would be a spoiler. This is a film to think about.

Warning! This is not a comedy. Some comedic elements but not "hilarious", as the description claims.

Boooooo. Trailer looked interesting. That's about it. Dumb ending.
