Very weird movie. Don't know why main character is running away from home, just that he did. Meets up with a few strange cookies. Not a whole lot of entertainment in this one.

Beyond Stupid.!

Had high hopes as a fan of Sedaris and having lived in North Carolina and Washington. I guess I should have read more about what this movie about, because it was mostly a drama about religion with a few dark comedy bits thrown in. Also couldn't picture the main character as Sedaris at all.

Not a comedy,.. but a rare, closely oberved, and engaging 'light drama' about ethnic/class accomodations and conflicts in our society.

This is a film about the foibles of mankind. Its style is somewhere between comedy and drama. The protagonist starts out being impressed with his own collegiate credentials, but is unprepared for life itself. After graduation, he is estranged from his family and is aimless in his pursuits. Through a series of misadventures with friends, employers, co-workers, and religious zealots, he is finally left exactly where he began. The young man is actually left with one final choice. Although it is not stated outright, a major hint is dropped during the course of the film. To say any more would be a spoiler. This is a film to think about.

Warning! This is not a comedy. Some comedic elements but not "hilarious", as the description claims.
