As you get through the seasons, there are fewer and fewer people you like, making it harder to watch all the brutality. Had to take breaks, but like with Breaking Bad, very well written, directed, and acted.

Good show but if you take out the man-hugs and back-slapping it would be 50% shorter.

It was O.K for a home TV movie. I was entertained and interesting. But it was NOT worth the long library wait or the price to rent from a Red Box. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

This is awful ! I waited months in line at the NYPL to get this series, and when I got it home and put it in the DVD player...it says: "NOT FORMATTED FOR THIS REGION" !!?? I have watched hundreds of other New York Public Library films on this DVD player. But about a dozen have come up as "NOT FORMATTED etc. !!?? Does anyone out there know what this means ? ... darn ! I really wanted to see this one. WHY is the New York Public Library buying sooo many DVD's that are "NOT FORMATTED etc."? My branch had sent an inquery about this problem to Purchasing several weeks ago, but there has still been no response (?). Has this happened to anyone else out there ?

Well written well developed characters, good music score. This is a compelling series and I look for to season 2.

March 26 2014.....After waiting about 10 months for this show, I finally received it. I've watched 6 episodes, and it is much tamer than I thought it would be, but for me, that's a good thing. Although it's certainly not a family show, it is a lot about family relationships, and it has great humour as well. (The poopy guns, the retching, I laughed out loud!) Most of the violence is much more subtle compared to the Sopranos, and Deadwood, and I think emotions are stressed, a little more. Having been hooked on 'Beauty and the Beast' (a way way back in the day,) I'm finding it really interesting getting to know Ron Perlman's real face. I'm loving Katey Sagal in this as well. Looks to me like she has had a little open heart surgery? (a sometimes not so subtle scar)....anyway, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job in this role, and I love both (Perlman and Sagal's) voices. Those voices are like chicken soup to me, real comfort food for the ears........May 8, just picked up the second 1/2 of season one, and watched one episode. I'm a bit lost, I can't remember who has done what, and I think I know who's body Jackson was burying, but I can't remember how he was killed! I have v-1 on hold again, hope I won't need to watch it again, but just in case!.......May 9, just watched episode 12, the Sleep of Babies, and it started out so beautifully, and ended so horribly. Awful.......Oct 8 2015, ha, I have to laugh! Now watching the final season, and it's funny that I found this series tame at first!

I liked this show. It came highly recommended by several people whose opinions I trust. However, I didn't love it like they did. I am intrigued, and plan to watch season two, but I wasn't blown away. There were enough plot elements and character arcs to keep my interest and the acting was pretty good, especially for tv. There wasn't the depth that I tend to love when I love a show. I found myself not really connecting or even rooting for any of the main characters. I will give season two a try and hope for improvement.

Season one kicks the series off to a good start. The grand finale leaves you anticipating Season two. Loved it!

A well written show with some interesting characters. Like The Sopranos, it's hard to explain why the viewer sympathizes with these outlaws. Like the series The Shield, it's not your typical look into the lives of those living on the edge. Supposedly the writers have used Shakespeare as a template. However, this isn't Shakespeare. It's the rough and tumble life of a motorcycle gang calling
itself a "club".
