This was a nice selection from a variety of writers, sometimes fairy tale in their tone. There were several writers who I had not heard of and am interested to read more. Neil Gaiman wrote "James Thurber, who wrote The Thirteen Clocks, which may be the best book in the world" had me hooked. The Thirteen Clocks was a book which occupied a large and meaningful space in my childhood.

Overall, this was a decent collection. I haven’t read very many short-story anthologies, but my husband tells me they are pretty hit or miss. This one had several stories I enjoyed a lot and others not so much, but it was a success overall. I hope you give it a try and read a few or even all of the stories contained within.

Great stories by great authors. creative and fun. By far the best was The Griffin and the Minor Canon, especially as great griffin stories are hard to come by.

A terrific collection of stories, by authors I loved and some I had never heard of. Well worth picking up.

Each story in this incredible short story collection was obviously very lovingly and painstakingly been chosen by acclaimed author Neil Gaiman with marvelous introductions to each.

There was not one story in this collection I did not enjoy, however my highest recommendations would go to: " The Cartographer Wasps and the Anarchist Bees” by E. Lily Yu (also working on the video game, Destiny, by Bungie), “Moveable Beast” by Maria Dahvana Headley, and “The Griffin and the Minor Canon" by Frank R. Stockton.
