In the last part of the book, where the denouement is supposedly taking place, and the reader supposedly should be put in the mood-Oh, what a surprise! ", In reality put me in the mood -This is tedious and confusing. The book can be viewed as a version of “Gone girl”

English psychological thriller about a woman whose domineering stepmother threatens to tear her marriage and family apart. Overly long for an ending trying to explain the resoning for her actions.
Well written , engrossing and taut.

Not bad - a good beginning but it does get a little slow after a fast start and has a disappointing ending. But why is this an American edition with language and grammar mangled? I am confused as to why British authors have to suffer this treatment. Please, please buy British editions of British authors and not these dumbed-down versions.

Like other Sophie Hannah books, it hooks at the start, then gets rather tedious, though one wants to see how it ends.
