"The world has fallen in love with Nick Gautier and the Dark-Hunters. Now Nick's saga continues in the next eagerly anticipated volume... Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That's the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn't the average teenager. He's a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him. He's learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive and keep a girlfriend so dang hard? But that isn't the primary skill he has to master. Survival is. And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known. Or he'll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he'll lose everyone he cares about. Even himself"-- Provided by publisher.

Contrary to comments below, this book is NOT just for teenage boys. I believe it is an awesome read for anyone with snappy remarks and humorous sarcasm anyone will enjoy!

Sherrilyn Kenyon is an awesome author. The Dark Hunter series kept me inthrowled for so long and then the Nick Chronicles added to it. It is perfect for the young male group.. Lots of intrigue and excitement. Now anxiously waiting for Illusions to come out

Why did this work on you?

Loved it! I read all of the dark hunter series and always thought Nick needed a bigger part. However, I read this one out of order...and have to go back to the beginning. I know that Inferno is out...when is the library gonna get a copy (hint...not so subtle hint )?! I love how Nick is portrayed...I mean there are times when he quotes something and I am made aware of the author's age and gender, but still love that he is portrayed as a guy...and not a girl's guy. Nice.

Although these books have many grammatical errors, they are awesome! However, to follow through with the storyline, you MUST read the other books in the series... It doesn't matter if you didn't read the Dark-Hunter series... You will learn about them... And you will go searching for more Sherrilyn Kenyon in the near future.

This series must be really confusing to those who've never read any of Kenyon's other Darkhunter books. The fact that this isn't the first time Nick has returned to his past to try and create a better reality is intriguing, even more so because it is his last shot. The added difficulties of the bleeding of realities make it worth while to continue and see where Kenyon takes this next.

All I have to say is, one of the characters quotes the Princess Bride; how could I not love it?! Love Nick's ability to tell the "creative truth" (it's not lying...really...)

"Of course it is" Could her tone be anymore snide?
"How I forgot that backwoods Cajun is a corruption and affront to the beautiful French language."
...
In spite of the fact that he knew he'd pay for it later, Nick gave her his most charming smile.
"Quoi d'autre?, cher." what else dear? "Laissez les bons temps rouler!" Let the good times roll. The motto of New Orleans and his own personal credo. He winked at her.
...
and couldn't resist one last taunt. "Ain't no bouki here, cher. Me and my bele gonna pass a good time at lunch. It don madda to moi. I done brought me a boucanee gater po' boy and some frainche beignets for eats. Yum!"

At this rate, he wasn't sure why he was being trained. It was like giving nuts to a squirrel with no teeth.

Thorn glanced at Nick. " you've no real powers, do you?". " oh contrarie, mon frere. I'm able to annoy all adults in ten syllables or less. Sometimes, I don't even have to speak at all. I just walk into the room and it rankles them."

Grim let out a long breath in frustration before he glanced up at the ceiling. "It's like trying to train an ADD cat in a mouse factory."
