If you ever have wondered about the history of the one child policy in China this is the book to read. It is a haunting account of the sacrifice mothers made for their daughters and their families. You will need tissues.

Beautifully written, excellent story telling, tragic tales. You should read this if any interest in today's China and/or have adopted or know someone who was adopted from China. The story of the child abandoned at the rail station will stay with me.

Heartbreaking stories of the abandonment and worse of baby girls in China.
