Wise, brilliant, and funny, Fran Lebowitz hit the New York literary scene in the early '70s when Andy Warhol hired the unknown scribe to write a column for Interview magazine. Today, she's an acclaimed author with legions of fans who adore her acerbic wit. Public speaking captures the author in conversation at New York's Waverly Inn, in an onstage discussion with longtime friend and celebrated writer Toni Morrison, and on the streets of New York City.

Not funny ha ha, but makes you think and smile. Get over yourself seems to be her message. She does focus on what makes her different. Everybody is different in some way. I live in Manhattan. People here are distinctive. Don't berate the tourists for coming to see this place. They just have to figure out how to get out of Times Square sooner than later. "Take your pics and leave Times Square." That's what we say. Meat packing is kind of a happy medium, tourists and city.

A brilliant wit. Fran Lebowitz has something to say about everything and isn't afraid to say it. If you like movies that make you think, and maybe even provides you with that perfect comeback, watch this.

Ironically, this movie is better than the book, which focuses on trivialities of life. Here in the documentary she takes a look at more serious topics.

Fran is at her best!!! A great documentary by a great director. Fran is opinionated, witty, but insightful. You may not agree with all she says, but you will learn about society and yourself by listening. She says she is a keen observer of people and her surroundings. One of the funny moments is when she says all New Yorkers make excuses for being in Times Square, because it is only there for the tourists. Definitely someone you would want at any dinner party!!

Fabulous. I don't agree with everything she says, but I love how she says it. And some of what she says is brilliant, funny, accurate, and unexpected.
