Gosh! Where to start... this book was something I just browsed through the book shelves and first thought was wow this book cover is so pretty and captivating. Of course you shouldn't "judge a book by it's cover" (ironic idiom much :3) The art in the book really anchors to the story and helps enhance it too! I'd recommened this book to REAL fashionistas who also like the vintage styles of yesterday rather than risque or tomorrow! Ciao PS why can't the library have the sequel to this book!!!! I'M LIKE SO GOING TO BEG THEM TO GET IT!!! OR I WILL PERSONALLY HAVE TO BUY IT!

I remember flipping through book catalogues and eyeing this novel, but it wasn't until three years later that I stumbled upon this book again. It's about fashion and time-travelling! How perfect is that?! Let me start off by saying that I adore books with fashion incorporated in it, so I knew I was destined to read it. Written by Bianca Turetsky, this color-illustrated book will take you on a journey to the beautiful (and fashionable) world of the early 20th century, on the unsinkable ship, Titanic. Oh girls, you're going to love, love, love this one!
Our tour guide for this adventure is a girl called Louise. Louise Lambert is a girl who loves clothes. But she's not a "head-to-the-mall-and-buy-anything-Abercrombie" kind of girl. Louise is obsessed with anything vintage. Classic black and white movies are her favorite films, and the glamorous actresses that star in them are whom she aspires to be. But most of all, she loves the fashion. So Louise can't believe her luck when she receives a mysterious invitation to a "Traveling Vintage Clothing Sale". The sale, run by two very strange and eccentric women, seems way to good to be true. What's their secret? Louise soon learns the answer when she tries on a magnificent pink gown and finds herself transformed, in more ways than one. After trying on the dress, she passes out and wakes up on the infamous cruise of doom. Call it luck or misfortunate, when Louise realizes that she was sent back in time as a passenger on the Titanic, she attempts to change the course before it's too late. But history cannot be changed, but it might be a different story when a little magic is involved.
This novel was a light-hearted and fun read, it has a cute premise and overall I enjoyed reading it. But first, let me clarify that its targeted audience is probably middle-school girls, so I can't guarantee that everyone out there will like it. Nevertheless, it has a great concept and if you do like fashion, you should definitely give it a try. It was beautifully written with an enchanting plot line. But what made this book a stand-out to me was that it contained 25 beautiful illustrations of historically accurate vintage dresses that the characters wore that tied it together the book with an elegant informative feeling. The pictures were stunning and I almost wished I was Louise instead. I must say even though it's targeted for people below my age group, it is one of my favorite books about fashion. The characters were memorable, each one distinct, and unique. The main character Louise was a great heroic character that I would love to read more of, and the way many historical characters were depicted was astounding. The author added historical facts that are now permanently paved in my head because they were delivered so beautifully. Even though this book took place in a historical time and place the author somehow twisted the plot line into a flourishing drama. It combines fashion and time travelling, two things completely unrelated and created magic, literally magic. The book is called "The Time-Traveling Fashionista" because it's about a fashionista who went back in time, duh. The two ladies who made all of that happen run a sale called the "Traveling Vintage Clothing Sale", so it's a possibility that each piece of the vintage item takes back the wearer into different time periods, I can't wait to see where Louise gets sent back to next.

This is a funny and beautifully illustrated book. A average girl attends a vintage sale, tries on a gown and suddenly finds herself transported back in time on board the titanic. A fun read that I would recommend to anyone who likes time travel novels.
