I love when Curran and Kate fight. It's the best.

This installment of the Kate Daniels series made me realize that no one is safe from being targeted by the bad guys. Of course, as with all of the books in this series, it is bursting with stuff, and I've noticed that somehow the initial request to investigate an incident gets lost and things take up a shape of their own and get out of hand. But the end, I'm not even sure if the enemy Kate is fighting is related to what she set out to right in the first place but so far it's worked out

This book is a great addition to Ilona Andrews' series. There might have been one or two slower parts where I lost some interest, but the rest of the book was phenomenal. I've already re-read it a couple times; it's that great!

After finally beginning a romantic relationship with the leader of the local Pack of shapeshifters, Kate Daniels is setting up her own mercenary business. At the same time, she and Curan's relationship is requiring siginificant adjustments on both sides.

Amidst all of this comes a conspiracy that threatens her newly-built family, her friends, and everyone she knows.

“Are you sure you know where you're going?" Andrea frowned.
"Would you like me to pull over and ask that bamboo for directions?"
"I don't know, do you think it will answer?"
We peered at the bamboo.
"I think it looks suspicious," Andrea said.
"Maybe there is a heffalump hiding in it."
Andrea stared at me.
"You know, heffalump? From Pooh Bear?"
"Where do you even get this shit?”
