Hiking into the remote Utah canyonlands, Aron Ralston felt perfectly at home in the beautiful natural world. Then, at 2:41 p.m., eight miles from his truck, in a deep and narrow slot canyon, an eight-hundred-pound boulder tumbled loose, pinning Aron's right hand and wrist against the canyon wall. Through six days of hell, with scant water, food, or warm clothing, and the terrible knowledge that no one knew where he was, Aron eliminated his escape options one by one. Then a moment of stark clarity helped him to solve the riddle of the boulder, and commit one of the most extreme and desperate acts imaginable.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love how you can really feel his passion for the outdoors. Also, the honest way in which he relates his meditations while trapped in the cave. You should read this book if you enjoy the outdoors and/or sports because it's about pushing yourself and having a passion for life. I thought the film was good too.

This is an amazing, impossible-to-put-down story! If you love stories of people beating impossible odds, you'll love this one.

This book describes the profound experience of a man who goes solo rock climbing and becomes trapped when a falling boulder pins his arm to a rock wall. This is more than a book about survival; it's a book about the psychological progressions of hope, anger, doubt, triumph, hopelessness, and victory. You really feel a part of Aron Ralston's struggle when reliving his accident in a Utah canyon. If you can get through the parts that make several people squeamish, this book is totally worth it.
