Maybe it was just me, but I found the translation a bit clunky and a plot that jumps from the past to the present meant I found the book was hard to immerse myself into.
Perhaps reading the previous Eric Winter novels first, instead of jumping in here might have been a good idea as I felt the lead characters were not well developed for me.

Interesting plot and characters but the set up was frustrating as the plot switched between two time periods, but this was not obvious until well into the book. I can't help but think something was lost in translation. Sometimes colloquialisms in Swedish were translated verbatim and felt clunky. I always knew I was reading a translation and I am not sure if this is a good thing or not as it interrupted the flow for me.

This is as good as Mankell and Larsson and keeps you hanging on right the way through. It's very convoluted and has so much detail that i is sometimes difficult to keep up, but it is well worth the read.
