Full of whimsical illustrations and a positive, empowering message, this book is a favorite in our household. Neil Gaiman's sweet, lyrical story reads almost like a lullaby, echoing every hope I have for my daughter's future... for her to grow up strong, be herself, learn from her mistakes, and find happiness in the little things. Highly recommended for readers of all ages!

I think the key to this picture book is that it's target audience is young moms. The pictures are fine, but with a line like "Ladies of paradox, ladies of measure, ladies of shadow that fall" I think it is going a little over kid's heads (that went over my head as well). It's a book for adults disguised as a kids book.

A beautifully illustrated book written for a woman about to become a mother. This book is part poem, part prayer, part incantation, part wish. A lyrical blessing that incorporates positive, empowered Feminine wisdom that can be an inspiration to both children or grown adults. Perfect for a maternity gift, baby shower or a gift to young girls to support their spirit and encourage their courage and self-respect throughout Life.
