Well written , action packed story of one of the great battles of the ' Hundred Years War " .
Cornwell is a master of the action adventure .
Exactly what you would expect from Bernard Cornwell. Excellent.
Bernard Cornwell, with his consummate skill, brings the history alive. Most enjoyable. The audio book version should be too, with Damien Goodwin's reading.
"One of the most stirring scenes in Shakespeare's Henry V is King Henry's St. Crispin's Day speech, delivered before the Battle of Agincourt. Addressing his greatly outnumbered forces as "we happy few, we band of brothers," Henry inspires his men to victory over the French. This standalone book by Bernard Cornwell focuses not on Henry but on one of his men, archer Nicholas Hook, an outlaw whose skill with a longbow leads to a career as a mercenary. If you enjoy action-packed historical fiction with plenty of combat, you'll want to read Agincourt. Cornwell is also the author of the Viking-themed Saxon Stories and the the Richard Sharpe books, which take place during the Napoleonic Wars." Wonderful book. Old curses are hilarious.
"The greatest writer of historical fiction today" Washington Post tackels his richest, most thrilling subject yet - the heroic tale of Agincourt.
Great writer, great book !
I also read "Heretic" from the Bernard Cornwell.
Same rich and elegant style... and same tricks to make us feel like if we where there... but all excellent.
Also excellent knowledge of medieval France history: could not find a thing which seemed inaccurate: Bernard Cornwell did his home work quite well!
Read this book, you will have a excellent time... and you will also learn a few things about this rich and complex European medieval history.
