Guru Pitka is an American-born, Indian-raised guru who was taught to become an expert in matters of love. Now, a world famous spiritual advisor, he guides hundreds of followers. A way for Pitka to increase his popularity is by helping to heal the troubled relationship between Toronto Maple Leafs hockey player Darren Roanoke and his wife, Prudence. Jane Bullard is the owner of the Maple Leafs who wants Pitka to help Darren with his waning skills. When Pitka tells Darren his wife has forgiven him, his shots dramatically improve. Pitka understands that the key to Darren's success is about distraction, not merely about reconciling a feuding couple. Darren begins a strict regiment of spiritual guidance. Darren has to overcome obstacles, including his wife's new boyfriend and his overbearing mother. Intertwined with all of this is the relationship between Pitka and Jane. Jane feels inadequate because of what she calls the Bullard Curse. Everyone in the city blames her for the Maple Leafs' losing streak.

I watched the Love Guru. It is a mixture of hockey and Romance. Mike Myers plays the hilarious character The Guru Pitka! As the Guru Pitka vies for the title of the world’s best self-help guru, Pitka must help a star hockey player win his wife back from rival athlete Jacque “Le Coq” Grande (Justin Timberlake) and along with it the Stanley Cup. The movie is basically about the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup over the L.A Kings, also in the end the guru and Jessica Alba’s character fall in love, and they move back to India and they dance to Bollywood music, not really but they make fun of it.

This movie killed me!!! I laughed throughout the entire thing!! I especially loved the Canadian references and Justin Timberlake's performance.

I love Mike Myers, but was so disappointed with this film. I lost interest about 15 minutes into the film but kept watching hoping it would pick up. I may have laughed once? Too bad.

I turned it off after a short period consisting of too many testicle jokes & simpering cameos by self-conscious, B-grade celebrities.

Watchable - Love Guru (2008) **½ 87 min. starring Mike Meyers and Jessica Alba. What can I say about a movie that makes fun of cultures, eastern religions, little people and yes, Maple Leafs fans. There are some crude funny moments in this picture that you will laugh and think to yourself “I shouldn’t have laughed at that scene”. Meyers subjects his audience to crude penis jokes over and over again – which are completely unfunny. I guess the only reason to watch this film is that it focuses on the Toronto Maple Leafs and yes, they make it to the Stanley Cup Finals!!!! The songs that Meyers performs are also fun to watch and how he mimics Bollywood dance numbers. This film is so bad at times that you try to break free and run but something keeps you watching – I need some help!

Jacques Grande: And now, I'd like to show my love by making for you a Quebec pizza.
Prudence Roanoke: What's that?
Jacques Grande: Pop-Tart with the ketchup. She's good.

Guru Pitka: Give me a pound. Lock it down. Break the pickle. Tickle, tickle.
