This has been my summer soundtrack since it was released in 2000. It's on my iPod from Memorial through Labor Day. It's a jubilant collection of breezy melodies, sunny harmonies and rhythmically-infectious pop sounds that recall the sounds of the Mamas and the Papas and Burt Bacharach/Hal David. The lyrics alternate between sun-drenched imagery and outright romantic longing, and Lang's gorgeous voice - at times breezy and smooth; sometimes powerful - perfectly conveys the album's overall sense of hopeless romanticism, yearning and surrendering to love (or at least to a "Summer Fling", the album's second track). The album is easily one of Lang's most underrated efforts.
