Can it get much better? Combine one of my favorite actors with my favorite director(my other favorite actor is also my other favorite director; Clint Eastwood) and it doesn't go wrong: a powerful Wallstreet manipulator discovers the beauty of nature and a natural life.

I really enjoyed the transformation of Max after he returns to his roots. He was a real jerk in the beginning of the movie. Great acting. Some language, and minimal sex.

A movie I can watch over and over again! Loved the scenery of London and France. Great acting by Russell Crowe!

Read the book and enjoyed very much.
Movie not at all. Scenery was beautiful. Characters seemed shallow and had sex on the brain all the time.
Script was poorly written and the main character couldn't act.
Disappointment!

Ridley Scott needs to stick to action movies, rom-coms are not his thing. This movie is watchable and cute at times but very unbelievable, with a poorly written script and story. Way better rom-coms out there than this one.

Imagine you rented this movie from the library for free, you have the flu, you have no energy to move off the couch and you have mildly sedated yourself with a dose of Nightquil - BOOM! This is the movie for you. It is entertaining in a "light" comedy/romantic sorta way - greatly enhanced by a beautiful setting in France that will have you dozing off and dreaming of owning a French chateau and growing grapes to make your own wine. Russell Crowe plays his character well, and there are moments of charm and endearment in the script, but it lacks depth of some characters and a certain "je ne sais quoi"....but who cares right? It's all you can handle because hell, you're sick! .....and you're going to fall asleep anyway ;)

Quite enjoyable. Russell Crowe is thinner, funny n handsome in this romantic comedy.

Not a very good film.

Read the book last year. Saw the movie this year, and enjoyed it, though it simplified the book somewhat.
There are several other Peter Mayle books that scream for a movie version, especially "The Marseilles Caper" and "Chasing Cezanne".

I like this movie a lot. Cant believe someone said it was awful. I liked the pace and thought the story was subtle and believable.
