This book is the very first book I read when I became aware that my daughter might be autistic (I actually read it 3 times). It contains a wealth of information about all aspects of asperger's/high-functioning autism and helped me confirm my suspicions and ultimately seek a professional diagnosis.

This book is very technical, but is still readable. It is written for a clinician, so it is pretty dry.

You will get a huge amount of information. I had to take notes and read in in chunks.

This book was recommended to me by a psychiatrist who claimed that this book was "his bible for Asperger's" Syndrome and related disorders. It is a big book full of everything you'd ever want to know including quotes and research from Hans Asperger himself. I am neither a psychologist not psychiatrist. I have no medical training, but I can understand what is being said and what Asperger's is and how it differs from PDD-NOS and (traditional) Autism. I read it as a parent of a child with Asperger's or PDD-NOS.

The very first book to read when ready to learn about the Asperger Syndrome.
