With Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman and Oliver Platt in a film, how can you go wrong? These three have such chemistry together that you'd almost want to just see them just in roadtrip movie, bantering back and forth and just forget the croc. The actors are great, the comedy is great, the scenery is beautiful and in addition to all this, there's a "scary monster" for them to hunt. Come, watch, enjoy. There's a croc in it, too, but don't get too hung up on that. The real stuff is in the actors themselves.

Add a CommentPilot of the Lake Placid film series released in 1999. Excellent cast who portray their roles admirably: Bridget Fonda as a city slicker who hates outdoors, Brendan Gleeson as a crusty Sheriff, and Betty White as the eccentric Mrs. Delores Bickerman who is the only living resident on Lake Placid.
Skip this if you do not enjoy other Anaconda films and/or similar series like Sharknado.

Sequels and spinoffs:
Lake Placid 2 (2007) ★★½
Almost a remake of the 1999 pilot except with some youngsters involved in the monster story. The original cast are too smart or big to particiapate in this B movie with the exception of Cloris Leachman to portray an acid-tongued Sadie Bickerman who inherited the isolated farm on Lake Placid from her sister Mrs. Delores Bickerman (Betty White) who went missing...
===
Lake Placid 3 (2010) ★⅔
Sadie Bickerman's nephew inherits the Lake Placid property and moves his family to town temporarily waiting for the housing market to recover. This time, the craziest character is a tough as nails hunting guide Reba (Yancy Butler.)
===
Lake Placid: The Final Chapter (2012) ★★½
The first sequence of the film is the continuation of the marginally watchable LP 3 (2010) ★⅔ finale. Clearly the star now is going to be the tough as nails hunting guide Reba (Yancy Butler,) that she is shown alive and soon to be a Fish and Game agent watching over the Lake Placid's crocodile sanctuary. Meanwhile, another nut-bag descendant of Delores Bickerman makes his sinister trip to town...

Lake Placid Vs. Anaconda (2015) ★★★
The poacher Jim Bickerman's further adventure in Lake Placid... and Reba (Yancy Butler) is now the Sheriff. Attractions are more cheesy one-liners and comical characters, especially the sheriff and her deputy. the evil CEO and the talkative sorority sisters.
===
Lake Placid: Legacy (2018) ★★
A group of eco-activists explore a mysterious site on a lake island. None of the characters from its prequels are in this film and can be watched as a standalone feature. Engaging first 30 minutes but hard not to take off the thinking hat and push the fast forward button afterwards.
Definitely the best movie about a saltwater crocodile finding its way into a freshwater lake in New York and terrorizing a bunch of people. I'd suggest pairing this with "Anaconda."
More humor than horror made film enjoyable (not that scary). Great cast also includes Betty White. Creature is not a mutant or a dinosaur.
A very enjoyable film. The effects used on the croc were extremely well done and don't look cheap at all. The acting is a bit over the top at times but besides that i recommend this. It's a fun one.
Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha. I don't care, i liked this movie. I especially like the way the crocodile looked. And Betty White was a funny surprise. This movie mostly contains all around sound for your HOEMTHEATER. It's a little corny at times but the visual effects of the croc made it worth the $3.99 i spent to purchase this film. Also, i prefered the letter box edition to the full screen. You see more and i've become use to the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. I'm giving this movie 3 and a half stars. Very good looking crocodile, decent sound, and Betty White. Sweet potato pie, vanilla & chocolate icecream shake.
