I think the movie is good, but the original was better. Tangerine Dream did the music on VHS and it's much better than the one on dvd.

As with Ridley Scott's other movies, it is incredibly well-made and Tim curry SLAYED as Darkness. The script on the other hand? Well, In it's own words: "A great towering mountain of slop!"

Starts out promising but soon turns dull... disappointing...especially with such a stellar cast....

This one's a wowzer: shot completely on sound stages that went up in flames due to out-gassing from the poly-plastic sets. Outdoor scenes in brilliant "sunlight" are some of the best ever. Nonetheless, Tim Curry rules; special mention to Robert Picardo, the Doctor on Star Trek Voyager, as Meg Mucklebones. She's a gas. And, at this point in Entertainment America, I'm certain we need to be reminded of the ouevre du Billy Barty.

Fantasy geeks who grew up watching movies like the Dark Crystal, Krull, Labyrinthe, Willow, and The Beastmaster will probably have rose colored goggles when judging this movie. Nostalgia makes it difficult to view most 80's movies objectively. Even still, in my opinion Legend sticks out as one of the better fantasy movies of that decade. I honestly think it even holds up to most modern fantasy, special effects aside. It's definitely an odd one though, and if you get the chance you'll want to see the directors cut version to contrast it with the version you might have seen on the old rabbit ears or cable.

Let's face it - Fabulous make-up effects aside, a screaming queen like Tim Curry, as "Lord of Darkness", truly sucked. And, yes, Tom Cruise, as junior Jack WTF, was nothing short of total embarrassment, in my books. It's true.

Yes. Legend may have been lavishly mounted. And, yes, it may have been incredibly handsome to behold - Yes - Yes - Yes - That it was. But, with that aside, it absolutely astounded me that, after having to endure the monotony of Blade Runner, director Ridley Scott would actually have the gall to come up with yet another goddamn boring movie, such as this one, to foist upon the unsuspecting movie-audience.

This dream-like fantasy, presented in the mould of a Grimm's Fairy Tale, was about the demon "Darkness" who tries to gain control over a young princess who represents the absolute embodiment of pure, virginal innocence.

Unfortunately, with characters that are not at all well-defined and art direction that's clearly gone haywire, Legend's story was utterly lacking when it came to important factors such as momentum. And, in turn, with this type of damage done, Legend's entire production ended up being reduced to the inevitable bore that it was.

One thing for certain - Legend sure is a great film to scare the socks right off of the little kiddies.

This is the Director's Cut version, so while it does add some details to the story that the theatrical release could have benefitted from (plus a couple that should have stayed on the editing room floor), it has the original Jerry Goldsmith score, NOT the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. If you checked this out because your brain was craving 'Loved By the Sun,' you will be out of luck. But Tim Curry is still awesome his part.

I remember when this came out and even though I do not like Cruise, and he is so goofy in this movie, Tim Curry in that makeup is one scary dude!

A fairy tale that's worthy of your HOMETHEATER!!!. A Devil, Princess, Goblins, Fairies, Unicorns, and wonderful forest creatues makes this a fantasy classic. 'The Lord of Darkness' is my favorite character. The way he looks and sounds is what nightmares are all about. One of my favorite scenes is when the princess is calling Jack's name in the forest. Listen to her voice echo with the sounds of the forest. Also listen to "The Lord of darkness" as he speaks with his deep scary voice in a very large, dark room. The sound of his voice echos throughout the room. This is not a scary movie but more of a fantasy film with good sound and very cool looking creatures. I give this movie 4 stars..Great looking Devil, cool looking creatues of the night, and a decent story. Hot wings, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, collard greens, corn bread, and ginger ale.
