I wanted to rate it five stars, to spite the haters (likely latter day blue meanies). the song I l-o-o-v-e is ONLY A NORTHERN SONG. this album is when Dark Horse began pulling even with Winston o'boogie and particularlysmashingness. ITS ALL TOO MUCH does for feedback what Hendrix did for the wah-wah pedal. YELLOW SUBMARINE, the song, is a true children's song. Don't see how any adult could really really like it without having heard it too many times already. I don't dig cartoons, since I got old, so the animation of it all will go comment-less. HEY BULLDOG was in the movie but didn't make the cd. it contains one of my all-time favorite guitar solos, plus, one of my all-time favorite bass riffs--throughout the song.

Pure, unadulterated pretension. If you're already heavily into psychedelia and Beatlemania, then you already love this movie, but if you prefer not to watch things that look and sound like a schizophrenic nightmare coupled with an overbearing tribute to John Lennon's hyper-inflated ego, then don't bother with it. I suppose if I'd grown up doing tons of acid and shrooms, I'd feel differently, but it's too late for that now.

Yellow Submarine is a bright, lively, wonderfully animated feature film of phantasmagorical psychedelia from the fabulous 1960s.

In a colourful netherland below the sea, the musical paradise of Pepperland is protected by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. When Pepperland is suddenly attacked by the vicious, music-hating Blue Meanies, The Beatles are called upon to help the citizens of this Utopia score a victorious win against these nasty foes.

Yellow Submarine's dialogue is cleverly laced with puns, double-entendres and hilarious "Beatle" in-jokes.

Some of the Beatles' best songs are featured in this film, including - Lucy In The Skies, Nowhere Man, Eleanor Rigby and All You Need Is Love, to name but a few.

In reference to a lower comment, the Beatles were not voiced by themselves, except for their songs.

Cool. Crazy. Colourful...... Yep. Yellow Submarine is a 1960's Pop-Art, fantasy trip like no other.

Filmed in the most brilliant kaleidoscope-colours imaginable, Yellow Submarine is a very clever cartoon featuring The Beatles, John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

We follow "The Fab 4" as they head out on their incredible journey down to Pepperland, where they arrive just in time to help save this fantastic land from the terrible tyranny of the Blue Meanies.

Yellow Submarine is a delightful blend of psychedelic animation and topflight Beatles' music.

"All You Need Is Love", "Lucy In The Skies With Diamonds" and "Yellow Submarine" are a few of the many songs that provide the background and power the action in a film that epitomized the "Flower Power Generation" like never before.

The tranquilized denizens of Pepperland, a colourful underwater utopia, want nothing more than to groove to pop songs and wear flowers in their hair. Unfortunately their bellicose neighbours, the Blue Meanies, hate all things musical and decide to silence the undersea hippies once and for all. Unleashing an arsenal of fanciful weaponry including anti-music missiles, Snapping Turks, and a giant malevolent glove, the Meanies lay waste to Pepperland silencing the bands and turning the Peppers into drab statuary. But one lone survivor, Captain Fred, manages to escape aboard a fantastical submarine which he flies to Liverpool in search of the Fab Four, the only group capable of restoring life to his besieged homeland. This fourth theatrical release to feature The Beatles is a trippy acid-laced cartoon forever stuck in the anti-establishment drug subculture of the Sixties. Yet despite it’s dated appearance and facile message (LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED!) Yellow Submarine’s playful combination of mellow tunes and manic psychedelia can still charm contemporary audiences even if they occasionally scratch their heads. Thankfully the film’s original master has been painstakingly restored to vibrant multicolored life while those classic Beatles anthems are nicely remixed in Dolby stereo including impressive animated interpretations of “Eleanor Rigby” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”. It’s enough to make Boomers smile while their grandchildren google “L.S.D.”
