Movie felt rather tepid compared to recent movies tacking the subject, such as The Green Book. It does have some nice heartwarming moments and shows a little bit of kindness and thoughtfulness and a cheerful attitude can go along way to changing hearts. I didn't feel the race element as much as a clash of personalities.

Wonderful heartwarming film. Black people presented like they were when I was young in Atlanta, and they were wise and charming servants of my large Atlanta family; they were truly part of that family; until democrats invented welfare and sold black people that bill of goods and turned many of them into nonproductive Trayvons and Michael Browns looting and pillaging instead of performing honest work. Morgan Freeman is wonderful; for long he remained above the black lives matter type of hustings, but no longer.

Twenty five years ago I watched this movie but really didn't appreciate it as much as I did today. Growing older has it's advantages makes you realize what is important. This movie is funny, sad and makes you think. Looking after an ageing parent can be hard but also makes you face the fact you will go through the same thing. As my mom said getting old is very hard. As far as I am concerned this movie is the best that I have ever watched because it means something to me. Actors played the parts extremely well. Is there racism- yes and the worst part is where the police stop Hoke and Miss Daisy on the way to Mobile, Alabama. I caught part of the stage play version on KSPS last week starring Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones. From the little I watched it looked very good and hopefully KSPS will show it again.

A Jewish industrialist in Atlanta, GA, circa 1948 hires a 70 year old black man to drive his racist mother around. That begins a long, slow-moving feel-good relationship that lasts 2-3 decades. The Jewish son is frightened to attend a MLK speech, but she does attend, though she refuses to offer the empty seat that was to be her son's to the black driver [who has been with her a longish time]. I suppose everyone's supposed to hug himself after watching this by knowing rich industrialist Jews had black drivers and servants same as wealthy white Christians. Or that Jewish industrialists didn't treat their domestic help any worse than rich Christians. It's not easy to construct any other message from this well done, heavily characterized movie starring exceptionally competent talent.

A RACIST old lady becomes a decent human being to her African driver. In real life right now 2014,all races worldwide must come together and fight our elite slave masters, not each other anymore, before it's irreversibly too late aka before we let them complete their NEW WORLD ORDER 100% against us and themselves,BUT YOU DON'T HEAR ME THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deserving of all the praise it got and recommend it highly.

This is a relatively old film about the bonding between a master and a servant, ageing, and human compassion. It is very well done and well acted. However, it now looks a little inferior compared to a newer, slightly different film on the same subject: "A Simple Life" from Hong Kong. Both are good, slow films to watched in a quiet evening.

Brilliantly acted feelgood Civil Rights era period piece. Never gets old and never fails to bring a smile to my face. Just a splendid piece of cinema. Freeman and Tandy shine like the sun.

There are so many aspects of this film which I could go on and on about. It is a wonderful film of which any person will get a fulfilling movie watching experience out of. Morgan Freeman does a great job in this as always. I highly recommend checking this out.

Daisy Werthan: Did you have the air-conditioning checked? I told you to have the air-conditioning checked.
Hoke Colburn: I had the air-conditioning checked. I don't know what for. You never allow me to turn it on.
Daisy Werthan: Hush up!
