I loved this. The nuns were absolutely charming. I love Gilman's humor; dry and witty and delightfully unexpected. Every little detail means something, there are no wasted words, and no person is superfluous - every character is necessary to drive the story along, and it all comes together in a very satisfying way.
I love this book.
When the cloistered Abbey of St. Tabitha learns they have inherited property from an unknown benefactor, they send the two nuns most able to face the outside world to look it over.
Sister John and Sister Hyacinth find the world to be a different place from the one they left.
They are befriended by 'hippies' and harassed by the police over the position of the house.
They find mystery piled on mystery but all is answered in a satisfactory ending.
