So, something people need to understand is that it was written by Hitler, who was a lunatic. The 1 star ratings don't mean anything... this deserves 5 stars because it allows us normal civilians to understand more profoundly Hitler's ideologies on a new standard. I don't agree with Hitler, but it's always interesting to understand how these dictators think.

wierd book...

And, so - How would I best outline horrible Hitler's "Mein Kampf" (aka. "My Struggle") in just 3 simple words?.... Well - How about? - "Babble-Babble-Babble" - Yeah. That pretty much sums up this wiener-schnitzel's whining, hypocritical drivel in a "Nazi" nutshell.

You know - Mein Kampf has got to be one of the most difficult books to finish that I have ever read - 'Cause every time I thought about the vile, hideous monster who wrote it - I wanted to toss it, asap, straight into the garbage.

Written in 1923 while Hitler (34 at the time) was serving a 9-month prison sentence for political insubordination - Mein Kampf was, at times, totally laughable trash as he self-righteously finger-pointed, non-stop - Discussing in great detail matters such as moral integrity (ha!), a sense of honesty (spare me!), and the Press who (*quote*) "are highway robbers grabbing at anything to serve their evil ends." (Can you believe this two-faced crap?)... To be sure - The mind-numbing nonsense in this book goes on and on, incessantly, for 410 self-satisfied pages.

*Trivia note* - (Get this!) - When Hitler became chancellor of Germany in 1933 - Mein Kampf earned him $1 million a year in royalties. This load of dough went straight into his pocket for almost the entire length of his despicable reign-of-terror in Germany.

Enlightening to read this much reviled book for oneself, rather than avoid it. Interestingly, however, there are parallels between the social-political climate during Hitler's rise and today's American social-political climate.

I just LOVE the definitions thrown here, lol. So, Hitler hated socialism so much his party was called Socialist Party... Oh, of course, National Socialism does not really, really mean socialism, you know. Are you guys really serious or is this all a big joke?

We tend to ‘throw’ around political labels without defining them as to their time and just how these changes drift into definitions many times 180 deg. from their initial.
Think A. Lincoln and T. Roosevelt as republicans...
TR would be [in anti-trust alone], a far left Bernie.
A. Lincoln was fair does that stack-up to today’s ‘republican compassionate conservatism’, a la the Bushie’s ‘New World Order’ ?
Hey.. an idea...
let’s keep deregulating the banks and financial [Wall Street] and ‘privatize' the ‘public sector to bust the world economy...again!
Certainly the 'Right' can supersede the numbers of 2009 ‘take-the-money-and-run’!

I Gotta Go...that sound is my private corporate ‘chopper’ on the roof as I grab 320 M$ from the company I tanked to make my get-away...
Ain’t America GREAT...AGAIN!?

" The Myth: Adolf Hitler, starter of World War 2 in Europe and driving force behind the Holocaust, was a socialist.

The Truth: Hitler hated socialism and communism and worked to destroy these ideologies.

While it does look like a very socialist name, the problem is that ‘National Socialism’ is not socialism, but a different, fascist ideology. Hitler had originally joined when the party was called the German Worker’s Party, and he was there as a spy to keep an eye on it. It was not, as the name suggested, a devotedly left wing group, but one Hitler thought had potential, and as Hitler’s oratory became popular the party grew and Hitler became a leading figure." - Robert Wilde

Most definitely, nothing but baseless, hateful, Nazi propaganda. This lunatic’s “struggle” almost destroyed Germany, killed millions of innocent men, women and children, engulfed the world in years of misery, famine and war. To read this book one needs a lot of fortitude, since it will be impossible for the reader to distance himself from what this monster meant to the world. Incidentally, Hitler’s party was called Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, which means German National SOCIALIST Worker’s Party; in other words, the nazi were lefties. Records kept by the Germans prove they exterminated millions of communists, Czechs, Greeks, Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, mentally and physically handicapped, Poles, resistance fighters, Russians, Serbs, socialists, Spanish Republicans, trade unionists, Ukrainians, Yugoslavians, etc. According to David Rousset, prisoners in concentration camps were divided into six categories and given patches on their clothing for identification purposes. Ordinary criminals wore green; political prisoners wore red; black was worn by slackers, prostitutes, procurers, etc.; homosexuals wore pink; conscientious objectors wore purple; Jewish wore yellow. Martin Gilbert estimates that the death toll under the Nazis during the Holocaust is over 15 million non-combatant people; while the number from the Service d'Information des Crimes de Guerre: Crimes contre la Personne Humain, Camps de Concentration (Paris, 1946) is 26 million. (Another excellent source of information, not available through CLEVNET is: Waiting to be Heard: The Polish Christian Experience Under Nazi and Stalinist Oppression 1939-1955, Bogusia J. Wojciechowska) Only in Poland 6,028,000 people (22% of its total population) were eliminated by the NAZI; over half of them were Christians (Forgotten Holocaust: The Poles Under German Occupation, 1939-1944, Richard C. Lukas). According to Wikipedia “Political Catholicism was a target of Hitler's 1934 Night of the Long Knives. German clergy, nuns and lay leaders were also targeted after the Nazi takeover, leading to thousands of arrests over the following years.” And in the words of George Lachmann Mosse: "Had the Nazis won the war their ecclesiastical policies would have gone beyond those of the German Christians, to the utter destruction of both the Protestant and the Catholic Church.” Alan Bullock; Hitler: A Study in Tyranny: "Once the war was over, [Hitler] promised himself, he would root out and destroy the influence of the Christian Churches, but until then he would be circumspect." The Response of the German Catholic Church to National Socialism, Michael Phayer (published by Yad Vashem): "By the latter part of the decade of the Thirties church officials were well aware that the ultimate aim of Hitler and other Nazis was the total elimination of Catholicism and of the Christian religion. Since the overwhelming majority of Germans were either Catholic or Protestant this goal had to be a long-term rather than a short-term Nazi objective." A concise history of Nazi Germany, Joseph W. Bendersky: "Consequently, it was Hitler's long range goal to eliminate the churches once he had consolidated control over his European empire."
Two articles on this matter:
For this and several other reasons, I can’t see why Christians or Conservatives would sympathize with this monster—unless someone is able to give practical examples. I find it very appropriate that libraries shelve this title in the Adult area, away from the young, whose minds can be polluted by such hatred and bigotry.
