So it's Mayflower in space.
Easily see repressive state as Trump's with limited media appearances & what trips overseas.
The twist that mother country didn't survive & their enemies took over.
Nice ending of the rebels sticking to the new man.
Though the editor should be fired for a plurality of mistakes and with some factual errors by the author, the narrative moves at a fast pace and the characterization is mostly done well. For what it is, it is worth reading for science fiction fans.
first of series. very good. and quick read.
Very disappointing. The story isn't badly told, but there are serious errors in the basic physics -- and critical inconsistencies within the story's mechanics -- which kept scuttling my suspension of disbelief. Way too much "idiot plot", such as characters keeping things secret from their colleagues for no good reason, and gigantic organizations bankrupting themselves to complete enormous projects that are doomed to failure because of poor basic planning.
Wow. Love this book so much - I'd passed it up on the shelf before, but decided to try it this time - very glad I did! I couldn't put it down, had to keep reading to find out what happened next!
