Has some passages that are almost prophetic -- published five years before the fall of the Berlin Wall, this is a great espionage novel by a highly literate and often under-rated author. Well worth reading, not to be missed by fans of the genre.

The lead character's work, and his musings on the importance of debunking misinformation and fighting for truth, are just as relevant today as they were then: perhaps more so, though the context has changed.

The back flap remark that "in the genre of the highly literate suspense novel, she (Miss MacInnes) is unrivalled" is still true.
