Excellent resource for understanding the geopolitical forces influencing Afghanistan.

Published in 2000-2001, prior to the Sept 11th attacks and the advent of ISIS, the author exhibits uncanny foresight into the repercussions of conflict in the region.

A very detailed book that gives a non-partisan view of the historical and geo-political analysis of the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Helps to dispel many of the popular myths surrounding the movement and gives the reader a very good grounding in all the major factions and players in this world drama that is afflicting the country and the region.

A must read for anyone who is serious about their desire to truly begin to understand the complexities of the region and the conflicts there.
