A very good Kurt Wallander Mystery, but not quite as good as his masterpiece, "The White Lioness." I plan to read further Kurt Wallander novels as they are a good mix of murder and Sweden's social problems along with Kurt tackling his own psychological and physical trials.

An excellent Swedish mystery/police procedural, although possibly not the best of translations. Although published originally in 1994, but a late English translation, this book is as current today as could be, thanks to the foresight of Mr. Mankell in what the international crime scene would be for many years to come! An excellent read.

Mankell tries to create a 2 fisted, hard-boiled action-hero in the mold og Gaillou or the USAmerican-style cop/detective. No thanks. I prefer Wallender as a dedicated slogger of a cop, not a slugger.
