Mi Centro is excited to join Tacoma Public Library to present the art workshop series "Arte En Comunidad: Art Workshops," led by teaching Artist Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys -- artist and owner of ArtMaranth Mobile School. The three workshops scheduled to take place are:

• "THE LIGHT INSIDE US" PAPE FAROLITOS on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00-5:30pm at the TPL Main Branch — 1102 Tacoma Ave S., Tacoma, WA 98402.
• "CORAZON SAGRADO METAL TOOLING" on Saturday March 7, 2026, from 4:00-5:30pm at the TPL Moore Branch — 215 S 56th St., Tacoma WA 98408.
• "PRINTMAKING MAYAN MOTIFS" on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 4:00-5:30pm at the TPL Branch South Tacoma — 3411 S 56th St., Tacoma, WA 98409.

These sessions are family friendly, but we do ask that parent/guardian be with their youth for the entirety of the session. 

About our instructor:

Amaranta considers herself a Mixed Media Artist creating pieces, at her home studio using different mediums: clay, acrylics, watercolors, vintage paper, tin boxes, maps and recycle. Her texturized landscape depicting Mexican Folk tales, goddess and calacas. All in search to reclaim ancient rituals, while blending elements of PNW such as bodies of waters, sea creatures and whimsical landscapes.

Mi Centro se complace en unirse a la Biblioteca Pública de Tacoma para presentar la serie de talleres de arte “Arte En Comunidad: Talleres de Arte”, dirigida por la artista y maestra Amaranta Ibarra-Sandys, artista y propietaria de ArtMaranth Mobile School. Los tres talleres programados son:

• "LA LUZ DENTRO DE NOSOTROS" — FAROLITOS DE PAPEL, el viernes 23 de enero de 2026, de 4:00 a 5:30 pm en la Sucursal Main de TPL — 1102 Tacoma Ave S., Tacoma, WA 98402.

• "CORAZÓN SAGRADO — REPUJADO EN METAL", el sábado 7 de marzo de 2026, de 4:00 a 5:30 pm en la Sucursal Moore de TPL — 215 S 56th St., Tacoma, WA 98408.

• "GRABADO CON MOTIVOS MAYAS", el sábado 16 de mayo de 2026, de 4:00 a 5:30 pm en la Sucursal South Tacoma de TPL — 3411 S 56th St., Tacoma, WA 98409.

Estas sesiones son aptas para toda la familia, pero pedimos que un padre/madre o tutor acompañe a los jóvenes durante toda la sesión.

Sobre nuestra instructora:

Amaranta se considera una artista de técnicas mixtas que crea piezas en su estudio en casa utilizando distintos medios: arcilla, acrílicos, acuarelas, papel antiguo, cajas de hojalata, mapas y materiales reciclados. Sus paisajes texturizados representan relatos folclóricos mexicanos, diosas y calacas, todos en la búsqueda de recuperar rituales ancestrales mientras fusiona elementos del noroeste del Pacífico, como cuerpos de agua, criaturas marinas y paisajes llenos de fantasía.
