Description

**TPL'S NEW ONLINE GENRE FICTION BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP!**

Speculative Fiction? What's that? Do you like science fiction? That's speculative fiction. Fantasy? OK, that's speculative fiction too. Horror, magical realism, alternate history, slipstream, steampunk, cyberpunk, dystopias, apocalyptic tales, and stories that are just plain weird? Yep. Those are all on the speculative fiction menu!

If reading and thinking outside the lines of humdrum, mundane life sounds interesting, join us to expand and explore your reading horizons with Tacoma Public Library's Other Worlds online book discussion group.

Each month, we'll gather online via Zoom on the last Wednesday of the month to discuss intriguing, mind-expanding, speculative books from across all the genres.

First Up: All Systems Red by Martha Wells: A bestselling, Sci-Fi series opener (TV adaptation coming?), that tells the humorous tale of the cynical but oh-so relatable "Murderbot" -- a deadly, hyper-competent corporate security droid who's secretly hacked themselves free. Instead of the stereotypical kill-all-humans rampage, however, Murderbot just wants to be left alone to binge-watch their favorite shows, but, of course, stupid humans are going to stupid human.
