Tacoma Reads: Solidarity and Storytelling

5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Fern Hill Branch

Description

Former Tacoma Poet Laureate, Kellie Richardson, will host a workshop as a part of this year’s Tacoma Reads theme of Rhythms of Resilience. We will look at individual and community stories of resilience not only to celebrate strength and courage but also to think about how we maintain our hope and stay inspired during sad and uncertain times.

This free, 90-minute workshop will begin with a grounding and a short inspirational reading. Then, Kellie will lead a discussion and activity to create a fun takeaway to build and maintain our own resilience. This is a great opportunity to set time aside to care for your well-being and re-connect with your creative side!

Tacoma Reads is a literary program series presented in partnership by the City of Tacoma's Mayor's Office and Tacoma Public Library.

The theme of Tacoma Reads 2024 is Rhythms of Resilience, and we invite readers of all ages to explore this theme by reading the book selected for their age group, attending curated programs, and engaging in discussion.
