Craft Afterschool: Building Memorials inspired by Maya Lin

3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
Kobetich Branch

Description

Join us at Kobetich every Friday afterschool for a drop-in, family-friendly program for grades K-5.

During the month of May, we will be celebrating Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month!

This week, we will construct cardboard memorials inspired by Maya Lin.

In 1981, Yale college student Maya Lin won a national contest out of 1,400 submissions to design the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.

Lin has designed numerous memorials, public and private buildings, landscapes, and sculptures. Although best known for historical memorials, she is also known for environmentally themed works.
