Examples of some of the groups coming this year!

-This event is located in downtown Tacoma, on Tacoma Avenue South in the large Main library. Parking can be gnarly during the workweek and is metered, but it is free on Saturdays and plentiful because most other nearby businesses are closed. You should be able to find street parking, but there are pay parking lots down the hill if we get a really big turnout.

-The library usually does not allow food in the building, but for this one day, the branch manager has said it will be allowed. YAY! Tacoma Avenue doesn't have many open restaurants on Saturday, so consider bringing a light packed lunch or snack. Avoid gooey and smelly foods. Please be mindful of food sensitivities. Drinks need to have a screw-top lid. To-go cups are not permitted. We'd like to be able to continue to offer this leniency at the convention in subsequent years.

-We don't have designated calm spaces (like some cons), but the Northwest Room, second-floor reference area, and back of the gallery would be a good place to take a breather.

-For little ones and families, the second floor has a children's area, with playroom, a kid's restroom, and a nursing zone for those who prefer privacy. It's a good place for babies, toddlers, and kids to have a little downtime.

-Aggressive behavior is against the library's policy. Displaying aggressive behavior with costume weapons or aggressive kicks/shadow boxing will result in being asked to leave.

Thanks to everyone who voted in our naming survey last year. Tacoma-Con (formerly known as Atomicon) has a shiny new name thanks to you. We love it!

This free event couldn't happen without the geeks of Tacoma coming together to support it. If you would like to contribute to the convention (volunteer, present, host an activity, or donate) contact the organizer Sara Sunshine Holloway at

Thank you to SPS-LUG, Costumed Characters For Causes, Comic4Kids Inc., SaberGuild Kamino, R2Northwest: Pacific Northwest R2 Builders Club, Harry Potter Alliance - White Center Chapter and the Tacoma Art Museum.

And a huge shoutout to Stargazer Comics and C.L.A.W. Artist's Guild who have gone above and beyond in their support.

*FYI, The Vendor and Artist Alley is full. No new applications are being accepted to reserve a table.
